A New Classroom for the Tekazamt School near Agadez

In the Agadez region, our Nigerien partners build wells, schools and cooperatives. We finance, support and follow up. They propose. They build. They maintain. Together, we decide.
Twenty years of structured commitment. No promises — just completed projects, open schools and working cooperatives.
It all starts with the well. But water is rarely an end in itself: it opens the school, heals, stabilises, empowers. Here are the five chapters of our work.

"You can do nothing without water, but you can do everything with it."
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

"A true education system imposes nothing on the learner."
Ivan Illich

"It's not the lack of water that kills, it's dirty water."
Gilbert Mitterrand

"Like water that wears down the rock drop by drop, autonomy is built through perseverance."
Léopold Sédar Senghor

"The problem of northern Niger is not political — it's economic."
Mohamed Ixa, President of NGO Tidène

"Tidène is made up of natives of the region with deep field knowledge. They run implementation and follow-up."
No subcontracting. No expats. NGO Tidène is the interface between Les Puits du Désert and local communities — administrations, water committees, cooperatives. Chaired by Mohamed Ixa, led on the ground by Ibrahim Rissa Ikssa (director).
Our story with NGO Tidène€10,000 for a market-garden well · €25,000 for a village or pastoral well · €40,000 for a complete system (solar borehole + water tower + mini-distribution).

Our operating area: the Agadez region, an area as large as France (667,799 km²) with 714,509 inhabitants. We intervene from the Tidène valley (our 2004 starting point) to the Aïr massif and around the city of Agadez.
